My cat won’t eat its food! What should I do?

Cats can be fussy creatures, and they can be particular about what they like and don’t like to eat. If your cat is turning their nose up at a chicken-flavoured food, try fish-flavoured food, and see if that is more palatable for them. If you’ve tried a few options, consult your vet, in case your cat has suffered a loss of appetite.

Dry food carries a lot more nutrition than wet food, as the majority content of a pouch or can of cat food will be gravy or moisture. Dry food tends to contain a lot more nutrition, protein in particular, and the crunchiness of the kibble can also help to keep your cat’s teeth clean while eating. However, cats ten

My vet prescribed my cat a particular type of food, but you don’t stock it. Why is that?

Certain pet foods that will be prescribed by vets, will be prescribed for a good reason, so it would be unwise to go against their recommendations. Most of the time, the foods they will prescribe have additional medication in the make-up of the food, to help control and manage a cat’s condition. Medicated foods like these are only available from veterinary practices, and cannot be bought from everyday retailers such as ourselves. That said, we do have a range of foods that would be considered “over-the-counter” equivalents of these foods, just without the added medication in the make-up, so your cat may not feel the intended changes it needs. My cat is starting to get obese.. Are these any food options to help him lose some weight?

Yes, we have a few low-fat or lightweight care options available in-store and online. First though, we would recommend to ensure that your cat is eating the correct amount of food, based on the recommended daily feeding guidelines on the packaging of your cat food, whether that’s pouches, cans, or dry food. Lowering the amount they eat every day, and being strict with them about not setting out more than what they should be eating, should be the first step you take towards getting your cat back on track towards a healthy weight.
