All Mikki de-matting products have micro-serrated edges that grip the fine hair of your pet’s coat allowing for easier, more precise cutting. The blades are made using high quality stainless steel to ensure long lasting quality and excellent results.
- Start by using a comb to gently tease through the affected area, isolating the matt by clearing away loose hairs that are not part of the knot.
Then, use the tapered tip of the Matt splitter to guide the blade behind the matt. Always keep Matt Splitter level with the skin to avoid digging in to your pet. - Use a “sawing” action with short strokes for effective cutting.
- Never force the Matt Splitter through matts as this will cause discomfort to your pet and is less effective. Keep Matt Splitter upright and at right angles to the skin.
- Avoid having it at a slant. Use your comb to clear the loose hairs away from the matt as you work.
- Avoid using the Matt Splitter on sensitive areas where there is loose or folded skin. Never lift the skin into a “peak” when cutting as this can result in serious injury. If in doubt use rounded tip scissors with care and if your pet is extensively matted seek professional help.
Grooming your pet is essential for its well being and appearance. Combing removes loose hair, dirt and prevents hair from getting tangled and matted. Just a few minutes each day will keep your pet’s coat shiny and healthy.
